The origins of what is now GOF International Schools trace back to the vision of the young Olugbenga and Oyefunke Olowe Family. Initially conceived as GOF Nursery and Primary Institute, the school’s founders demonstrated a deep commitment to providing quality education for future leaders and ensuring the development of resilient human resources for society.
In January 1986, GOF Nursery and Primary Institute was officially opened in the ancient town of Ejigbo, Old Oyo state, by the Ogiyan of Ejigboland, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin II. Beginning with just eight rooms in a ground floor building, the school quickly outgrew its initial space due to its growing reputation and parental support. Consequently, on August 14, 1987, GOF moved to its permanent site on 2.47 hectares of land at Km2, Olla Road, Ejigbo.
Inspired by a desire to continue providing world-class education, the founders launched GOF Private Secondary School ten years later, evolving into the present-day GOF International College, Ejigbo. The journey of the college began on December 14, 1995, when a team of education inspectors accredited the school after it met all requirements set by the Ministry of Education.
With the approval in place, GOF Private Secondary School commenced operations, admitting twenty-three students following a successful Common Entrance examination held on January 31, 1996. This marked the official beginning of secondary education at GOF.
The success of GOF Schools owes much to the unwavering support of individuals such as Dr. Wole Odutolu, Mr. Femi Osunro, Late Chief (Dn.) S.A Ajani, Late Mr. Obafemi Saba, Late Alhaji Rauf Omotoso, and Late Mr. E.O. Oderinu, among others. Special mention must be made of the late lyalaje of Ejigboland, Alhaja (Chief) Alimotu Jolaiya, whose steadfast support was instrumental in overcoming challenges.
Not satisfied with their achievements in Ejigbo, the founders expanded GOF’s educational reach to Cote d’Ivoire in 1999, answering the call of Nigerian parents for English-based secondary education. With the support of individuals like the late Alhaji Tijani Oyolola, GOF International Schools Cote d’Ivoire began with forty students and four teachers in Adjame. In August 2010, the school moved to its permanent site at Yopougon Ancien Bel-Air, fully operational by September 1, 2011.
In September 2000, GOF International Schools Osogbo was established, initially housed in a four-storey building at Onward Estate before relocating to its permanent site. Today, it serves as the administrative headquarters of GOF International Schools, Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire, offering creche, nursery, primary, and secondary education.
